Holiday Inn Reading - M4, Jct.10

Wharfedale Rd, Winnersh Triangle, Winnersh, Reading RG41 5TS, UK – 0118 944 0444

We stayed here for the night and the only complaint we have is that we forgot our swimming and gym clothes so couldn't enjoy all the leisure facilities. The building is fabulously accessible. The accessible room was massive and the shower fabulous. The restaurant had Indian dishes which were really tasty and the bar was everything you'd expect. This is a great place to stay if you're visiting the Reading Bracknell area, especially if you'd like some down time at the pool, gym or spa.

My husband and I stayed for a spa weekend in celebration of our wedding Anniversary. Staff are polite, attentive and courteous from check-in to housekeeping. Hotel clean modern and very high standard of maintenance throughout. Rooms and beds are spacious and comfortable. Spa treatments and use of the facilities excellent It was a lovely enjoyable time made more special by our waiting staff at our dinner which was booked as part of the package. Staff went out of their way to present us a beautifully crafted all edible dessert tray with Happy Anniversary, small gesture but meant a lot to us. Totally enjoyed our experience here. We plan to return soon.

Best Western Reading Moat House

Mill Ln, Sindlesham, Earley, Wokingham RG41 5DG, UK – 0844 387 6244

Stayed here for three nights for a works training course. Had a couple of issues with the first room I was in so I had a word with the polite lady behind the reception who got hold of the duty manager and they upgraded my room. Very much appreciated and I would recommend this hotel as the staff are very friendly and do go that one step further to make your stay comfortable. Thanks to the polite receptionist and duty manager Dominica Well done

Called in for tea and had the full tea for two and the cream tea for two. The four of us were treated to the most amazing spread of sandwiches and beautiful cakes. The scones were great and the amount of cream we had was huge. Tea itself good and we were blown away by the quality and quantity. We can highly recommend!!

As you walk in Lovely Airy inviting Reception. Room spacious and extremely clean. I was very happy to see a small fridge which had water in. Also the room had a seperate Toilet, Shower and Bath always a plus for me. Air conditioning was a blessing especially in this heat at the moment. Bed comfortable with crisp clean white linen. Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Hope & Bear

153 London Rd, Reading RG1 5DE, UK – 0118 935 4095

A very family friendly restaurant/ pub which is newly furnished and has very friendly staff and a quick service. Amazing food dishes, drinks and games to keep kids happy whilst waiting plus parking just outside.

Good selection of beer and spirits. Lovely outside areas. Has a hatch to order drinks from the garden. Winner in my book.

The Black Boy

Shinfield Rd, Shinfield, Reading RG2 9BP, UK – 0118 988 3116

We stopped here for lunch, on our way back home to Reading. It’s such a lovely place with nice atmosphere. Food is amazing. We will definitely come back again. Highly recommend.

Love what the owners have done with the place after renovation. The menu is decent and the food tastes alright - the chef could do better. Some of the items from the old menu have been taken off and the menu has lost its simplicity. The outdoor dating area is gorgeous in the summer and can get very busy.

The George

Loddon Bridge Rd, Earley, Reading RG6 7EN, UK – 0118 926 1844

What a lovely find, yesterday we stopped in when passing and had a fabulous lunch in the lovely waterside garden. Back this way today to the garden centre and popped in again for a nice cool drink in the lovely pub and ended up ordering 3 pots and dips for £10 from the bar menu. Definitely one to remember when this way.

Staff were wonderful, but the food was disappointing. Stopped for lunch and went for the summer special of a “hog roast pulled pork sandwich”. It really sounded good but was a thin roll with 90% stuffing and the occasional slither of pork. We’ll be back because of the staff (particularly the lady with a name badge that I think said “Borris”, who was very welcoming and friendly with our kids), but would avoid the sandwich.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Mayfields Guest House

May Fields, Sindlesham, Wokingham RG41, UK – 0118 989 3769

Love this guest house. The owners are lovely and the rooms are lovely. Great place to stay.

Clean spacious rooms, lovely breakfast will. Stay again if room is available when I need one.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
